I saw the movie at a midnight showing last night, I would have done this last night but I was way too tired. Im not going to do a spoiler because I want everyone whos curious to find out for themselves. All im going to say is that it was better than I expected it would be. It wasn't a masterpiece like SM2 or CoR, but it was good nonetheless. The fight scene clip that SJB posted was about the cheesiest part of the movie, the rest of it was pretty good, and if your anything like me, the ending will throw you off. My advice to anyone who's curious: See this movie.

After trashing this movie for months........ I admit that I liked it.:(
I mean it doesnt even hold a candle to the first few Aliens/Predators, but man was seeing the Predator do badass things again worth my ticket. I hope an R rated cut will make it better though.

Ja, I saw it with Armius and the funniest thing was the fact that there is a guy who learned three new language/writings in two seconds, please explain this to me?

What are you talking about?
Amirius

He didn't learn them, he already knew. He's talking abou the Italian who told the others of the story of the temple by reading the anciant eygptian, cambodian, and aztec writings.

Just saw it, and it'd be so much better if I made it:( First off it was enjoyable, but it was a shitty movie and shit all over the respected franchises it was crossing, and would never fit into continuity.
First off if Predators came here not to hunt humans, what you call Predator 1 and 2? How many companies last for 200-400 years? Also since it was based in 2004, there was no way that Bishop could of invented the androids, even more so star in Alien 3:( The movie just doesn't fit into continuity, unless it wants to say it's in it's own contiuity then fine, it doesn't belong with the greats.
Secondly it should of taken hints from a real VS. film, Freddy vs. Jason, it's about the monsters not the humans. Granted this somewhat hurted Freddy vs. Jason. But there just wasn't enough Aliens or Predators. There wasn't enough jaw-dropping moments, also I only counted 3 dropping pods, but there were four predators?
Thirdly what the fuck at the end? This isn't Jurrasic Park:( But I must say the Predator moves were cool. Over-all it just wasn't that great :(

hmm...things change? (on a side note, look at the the mantle Glover's glancing at in the Predator ship near the end of Predator 2. Is that a Xenomorph skull?)
How many companies last for 200-400 years?
again: things change. Especially considering the advancements now compared to yesterday. So it's plausible that a company could last for a few centuries in the future.

that was the real deal in Alien 3? It's been a while since I saw Alien 3 but I thought that was another android at the end.

I thought it was I'll watch it again, even so he the one who design that bot too. But look, if Predators have been coming since the dawn of Mankind, then predator 1 and 2 don't make sense. Also don't you think the preds would get more advance in a 1000 years

This movie isn't a Predator movie though, nor is it an Alien movie. It's an Alien vs. Predator movie. As in supposedly being tied in more closely to the games. It's an entirely new saga than simply Predator or Alien, so it would make sense that they would need a new storyline.

I don't like that at all :( it should fit in with the rest of the series, ala Freddy VS Jason:)
Amirius

Yes, that would have made it way better, but considering all that was wrong with the movie, it was still pretty good.

Was that the stretch of time until the first person died? If so, then the only part they needed in there was when the found the weapons and activated the temple.

I think they need to make a second AVP after what happened at the end. I mean come on, an Alien/Predator Hybrid, tell me that it wont have the raw power of the Alien and the technologicly advanced knowledge of the Predator. I think it was Amirius who said this ,but i agree. The Preds may have a new hunt on their hands.

I think it fits in perfectly. :)
And I only counted three Predators. Me thinks TSA got confused.

The Predator that got the sucker to face while marking himself didn't die TSA, he's the one that survived till the end.

It was ok, but it lacked a certain charisma that the other movies had

There are definatly going to be a lot of nitpickers when it comes to this movie. Am I one of them? For certain things, yes, but overall my reaction when walking out of the theater was "Not bad. Could have been better." While it blends the two worlds nicely, you can't help but wonder if there was a point to the movie at all. At least Freddy vs. Jason seemed to have a purpose (even if that purpose was to resurect those two so we could make more sequels). This seems to add several things to the Predator universe, but the Aliens are basicly just there so they could title it Alien vs. Predator. Not that they could have added anything to the Alien saga anyway, this is a prequel to it after all.
Paul WS Anderson steps up as director for the 3rd Predator movie and 5th Alien film (but first Alien prequel), and also takes writing credit. Paul is probably best known as "that dude who did Resident Evil," a bad movie with mild entertainment value. He was also the director of Mortal Kombat (which I loved) and Event Horizon (which fell flat for me). Here he takes on another project that was on the video game screen long before it hit the big screen. And like his other movies, he does so with style and f*** the substance.
My biggest worry for AVP was the diologue. None of the above movies had the best diologue (OK, I'm giving too much credit here to Paul's writing abilities), however it wasn't as cringe worthy as I was expecting. The delivery, however, left much to be desired. Many times I felt like the actors were rushing through their lines just so we could get to the fight scenes. Several of the actors are just bad, several are just annoying, and the few who can act *cough*Lance Henrickson*cough* aren't given much to do.
What about the creature design, you ask? The Aliens are top notch. Great care was definatly put forth when designing them. The Predators on the other hand...well lets just say if I ever meet Paul or any of the FX crew face to face, I'm gonna smack them so hard. Now, the FX for the invisibility was outstanding, and the new heat vision, while it took some getting used to, ruled. But somebody call Stan Winston! We got a disaster in the animatronics department! I can look past the almost football player build, but that face design was inexcusible! The inner jaw was so big that I forgot that I was looking at a Predator and thought I was looking at some sort of a Muppet.
I think that about covers all the bad points. Let's cover the good: the fights were incredible, the plot was clever, and there was no CGI overload (the way these films should be).
Now then, after all of this, what series does it feel like more: Alien or Predator? I'm gonna have to say Alien. Even though it seems to add more to the Predator legend, the pace and atmosphere just screamed "I'm an Alien movie!" No big surprise, since Paul Anderson said it himself he was a bigger fan of the Alien series.
Do I recomend this film? That depends. If you're willing to shut your brain off and enjoy, go right ahead. If you're just going to pick it apart to death, I say don't bother.

Yeah, I typed that up about two months ago for another board. I did this whole thing where I watched one Alien/Predator movie a day and reviewed them.
It was pretty fun too.

This is kind of interesting. I stumbled upon this while fooling around on IMDB, they're the DVD covers for this movie.
The Predator is dominate on the Widescreen version...
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005JMZK.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
And the Alien is dominate on the Fullscreen...
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0006BE3S8.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
I always get widescreen and I like the Predator more, so it all works out for me. Yay!
But I searched and didn't come up with any DVD for the Directors Cut that Anderson's always yacking about. Maybe they got both cuts in here like the Alien Quadrilogy or maybe they're releasing it later.

I wait for no one. I'm the wind baby.
I'm in this DVD deal for the movies and the movies only. If the studios want to squeeze a few more bucks out of me with a double dip, they can eat me. Unless it's a director's cut, like Daredevil. I'll gladly buy both discs for one of those.
