I had no intention of spoiling anything, Milady. Now on with the review---------
For anyone living under a rock the past 30 or so years, lemme give you some back history[from the movie]. Average Science geek Peter Parker gets bitten by a genetically altered spider, and thus gains some new abilities. He becomes stonger, faster, more agile, and can even see well without his glasses. He also learns some new tricks, such as clinging to walls, shooting webs to propel himself/use as restraints, and gains an early warning system commonly refered to as "Spider Sense". In the first movie, he ends up facing the Green Goblin, which is the father of his best friend, Harry Osborne. After the events of the last movie, Pete trys to move on.
The casting was right on. For those of us who didnt like Tobey or Kirsten in the first movie, and think that they could have been cast better, this is very redeeming for the both of them. All the supporting cast has returned as well, leaving for a real good feel about the movie in terms of continuity.
Special Effects? I dont think there were any. And if there were, they were too real to notice. There were about 3 scenes where you wonder "Huh? Did I see that right? Cause that didnt look right..." and others where its more like "Huh? Did I see that right? That looked TOO Real...". The webslinging was nothing short of astonishing, as were the fight scenes. And whenever Doc Ock would use his arms. you would think that Molina really had them grafted to himself.
The script is kinda hard to describe. If you seen the first one, then you've practically seen the second one.The characters are true to form, and the funny parts are downright hilarious. Theres one really funny scene about half an hour or so into it, but I wont tell you, because you'll know it when you see it.
Action was a bigger player into this one this time. And it was definately for the better. Anyone who has an imagination like mine, where you would read the comic and imagine whats goin on inside your head, will be throughly pleased with the fights here. I dont want to spoil anything, so Ill leave it at that.
There you have it, True Believers. Draks First Movie Review. Now tell me how much I missed......

Review: Spider-Man 2
By Tom Brook
In New York
Spider-Man 2 is that rare Hollywood phenomenon, a sequel that is actually better than the original.
It opens with Peter Parker, as a pizza delivery-boy and college student refreshingly free of hubris. Ambivalent about his superhero powers, he remains preoccupied with his one-time girlfriend Mary Jane, now a model and actress.
The sequel is essentially a coming-of-age story in which Parker comes to terms with his superhero gifts and redefines his romantic involvement with Mary Jane.
The special effects in the film have a seamless quality that far surpass those in the original. The action sequences are impressive too, they follow the human drama, driving the narrative rather than interrupting it.
But the film just wouldn't be a success without Tobey Maguire, whose involvement in the sequel was initially in doubt.
Emotional terrain
Maguire, who does much of his acting through his eyes, manages to present Spider-Man as a superhero with real soul.
Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane and the other principal actors have had their roles strengthened, with each character navigating intriguing emotional terrain.
The British actor Alfred Molina makes a fine debut in the franchise, giving life to a villain who is far from one-dimensional. The menacing, multi-tentacled Doc Ock is clearly a tortured soul struggling with the demons that have taken control of him.
One unexpected character development comes in the guise of Peter's Aunt May, played by British-born actress Rosemary Harris. Hardly a gymnast, Aunt May surprises the audience when she appears in an action scene where she is saved by Spider-Man.
In fact, Aunt May proves a major influence on Parker. In a moment that is probably too emotional for hard-core Spidey fans, she strongly suggests to her disillusioned nephew that the world is in dire need of a benevolent superhero like Spider-Man.
Contemporary hero
Indeed with Spider-Man 2, Hollywood has brought us a super-hero who may resonate with many Americans. Especially those who, in these unstable times, feel their country lacks larger-than-life contemporary heroes to give it a sense of purpose.
The film isn't without imperfection - there are some loose ends in the narrative, specifically a tentative and unexplained romantic overture towards Parker from his landlord's daughter.
But overall, director Sam Raimi has done a fine job. Spider-Man 2 is original, complex and very satisfying.
At its heart, it is a film where the screenplay is star, a well-written big budget blockbuster that artfully combines compelling action with intelligent, coherent human drama.
Spider-Man 2 opens in the United States on Wednesday and in the UK on 15 July.

Thinking back on it, and now that my hype has settled down, I dont think it was as strong a movie as it appeared to be. Thinking back, its basically Spidey 1, but with Pete doin all the work, and more comedy.
Not that copying Spidey 1 is a bad thing....;)

Well, I have to say the first time I saw Spider-man 2 I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed. But my second tiome around I enjoyed it alot more. And I just love how badass the movie Doc Ock was. I admit Doc Ock is not my favorite comic villain, but Alfred Molina really did a bang up job convincing me Ock was awesome.

Im not so sure I wanna see Venom by himself. I really dont think he can carry an entire movie. Maybe if you toss in another villian, or even make a movie MAX CARNAGE.....

Something Inc_Bob said, that I agree with, would be that it would be a great idea for them to do an Animatrix-style thing with Spidey. Like all the lesser villains, like Vulture and Shocker, should get a 30 cartoon drawn in the style of some of todays best comic artists.
