I just ran into this on Ain't It Cool. It looks cool.

Below, you can find some videos currently making the rounds on YouTube. They appear to show demo material for a GHOSTBUSTERS shooter -- looking a bit tougher and grittier than its 80s progenitor. The videos are attributed to ZootFly, whose site you can access HERE.

The top video feels like it might be a GEARS OF WAR mod of some sort...perhaps built to simulate a potential GB game? Although, the quantity and quality of the material below suggests there's much more to this story.

If we're not gonna get a new movie...this might be a mighty fun substitute. Even if all of this is nothing more than an elaborate hoax, it's a damn fine one that should point The Powers That Be towards a very obvious conclusion: I'm thinking we really need a game like this.

Now!

It's not a confirmed game yet. It's just the developer trying to pitch a game.

Zootfly throws down the gauntlet

Posted on January 12, 2007

Two days ago, Slovenian video game developer, Zootfly, sneak-released a couple of videos onto YouTube, sans explaination - best guess is that they amount to them expressing an interest in a Ghostbusters game (as they featured concept art in a company precis - see below for the art.)

Currently, as PC understands it, nobody holds the licence to make a GB game, so it’s not known if this is some pre-hype before pursuing the license or a publisher, evidence that they just aquired the licence, or are just doing it to show off their love of GB.

Whatever the case, it’s pretty darn sweet. Big thanks to Kingpin, Robert Knippels, and the gang at the GB message boards for spotting this.

I figured it was something fanmade but that's cool too.

Do you have the link to that article, Dragn?

Wow really freakin cool, and just from the videos, pretty well done. I like the surreal atmosphear the ghost-busting video had. The screams and the ambiant noise, very very nice.

Ghostbusters and TimeO

We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you’ve seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly’s proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road, but everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP.

Not to lose the momentum, a part of the ZootFly team is currently working on an original game called TimeO, which is closely related to Ghostbusters. The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it.

As soon as the Ghostbusters IP issue is resolved, the whole team will go back to Ghostbusters. In the meantime, please enjoy these two movies.
