I wake up early in the morning on Satuday to find out I've been uploading/downloading at high amounts for at least several hours even though I had nothing open that would cause that. I restart my computer and I still get it. I performed virus and spyware scans with multiple programs and while I got some results and had them removed, the problem remained. Later, I found out I'm apparently being hacked (by someone subscribed to the same ISP, no less). I try some other stuff and it ended up going nowhere. I try blocking the intruder's various IP ranges with my firewall but then it just ends up hogging my CPU usage until my entire system's slowed down. Worst of all, I have a download/upload limit (yes, that still exists) and I ended up losing 1.2 gigs in downloads in about one day.
My ISP can't do anything. I figured they'd have some special rule if this occurs between two of their subscribers but nope. They say it's my responsibility to make sure my system's secure, as if I was some total computer newbie who bought a single anti-virus eight years ago and don't know I have to update the definition list if I want it to protect me against anything. I spent the last two days trying to fix this but nothing worked so now I'm left to try formatting and reinstalling everything.
Yes, I know this seemingly has nothing to do with the comic but really, it does. I spent most of my weekend on this rather than working on the comic (hence why it's late). :( If you see it to be just, you may ask the admin to ban me. Goodbye forever. :(

Yea, I hope so, too. I plan to format and do the reinstalling tomorrow but me and plans don't get along.

oh i know how that goes! I hate computer repairs! I had a nightmare once that my computer started taking on a mind of it's own [hacker] and it seemed so real that I didn't go near my computer for almost 2 days thinking it was actually needing fixed. It was weird!

What did you end up doing?

Thanks. I shouldn't have any problems, assuming the issue lies in the same drive as the OS.

What did you end up doing?
I turned on my computer finally ready to try and battle the repairs with a friend by my side and found out there was nothing wrong with it aside from a minor virus that took seconds to fix. I got laughed at a bunch and then we got drunk instead and played some racing game on PS, but as a drunk driver i ended up spending most my time stuck in a fence of some sort.
I wish i could remember that game he brought over.. you could run over animals or people or something i think.

Hmm. Virtual drunk driving. An interesting concept.

What virus/spyware protection do you use?
For free spyware removal: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
For free virus scan: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
If you are looking for the best in Virus protection I suggest picking up a copy of Trend Micro's PC-cillin. For spyware protection and removal, Webroot's Spysweeper is pretty boss.
Also do you use a router, if so is it a wireless router... If it is a wireless router do you have security encryption set up on it. Also, check where you internet line connects to your house, a neighbor could be jacking your line.
Also, I know it's dumb but if you have Windows XP, for the love of God make sure your Firewall is active.
There could be a number of issues to look over and work on but I'm tired and do not feel like thinking. I just got out of work...

I appreciate the help, Mix. But this is actually not a bad time to format this hunk of junk. I hadn't done it in about three years and it's practically begging for one, despite this problem which seems to have gone (for now).

No, I don't use Firefox much. I use Maxthon and sometimes Opera.
Windows is updated, yes.
Please ban yourself. It sounds awsome.
Nah you can't ban yourself. I tried that once on Hype.

haha, I liked how she did that quick "wtf" turn when Baldy mcwhathisface started singing "It's a small world." Which reminds of me of the time I went on that ride at Disney World. Creepy as hell.

Why was it so creepy?
" Baldy mcwhathisface". Cute name. :p
Abaddon

They had these little animatronic dolls from different countries singing. It was just sort of weird and lame. When I got older, I started wondering if they were planting subliminal messages in the music. The way the song kept repeating was eerie.
and yeah, I didn't feel like going back to see what his name was.:o
eSJayBee
02-05-2007, 11:31 PM
And someone might add "And that's another reason why you gotta add that cast page" directed towards me and I'd reply "I'll get to it soon! :smad:"
Anyway, baldy's name is Bry. He was loosely based on Bryan (Captain Bryan) but I'm not man enough to accurately portray his zaniness so I had to make it up.

ha, my impression of Cap Bryan on hype was that he was a sensible guy. Live and learn.

He is a sensible guy. He's one of the nicest guys I know but he also has a sense of humour (that doesn't hurt other people) which makes him even cooler to talk to.

Aww. Thanks, JJJ. :)
I hope I can keep it going for a while. Things like school and one day going for a career might get in the way (RIP, Mac Hall (http://www.machall.com/)). :(

hahahaha..... they aren't stick people they're star people.... put a pointy hat on them and they would so be stars, lol

Gone are the "star people". Present is today's late strip!
Make the filler 42.5 or something. That's pretty damn funny.
I won't put any fillers in the archive itself but I may put it in a special section later one. I can't decide if I want to add cast pages, etc before or after a redesign of the site. (if I even intend to do).
