Atrax: how much hard drive space will you have? At the moment I have a 120Gb and a 40Gb hard drive.

Im gonna get a 200Gb serial ATA hard drive and use my 120Gb as a slave drive.

Im giving my old 40Gb drive to a friend (after I take all my music off it anyway)

okay. I'm jealous again :p

Actually, I wouldn't need a 320 gig total much now, anyway.

I was going to try and use my 40GB as well but I looked into it and would beed a special motherboard to accomodate it. So Im not going to use my 40 now.

I'll mainly use my slave HD for music, movies & downloads..

My Main HD will be for gaming and windows. :D

I dont actually NEED 320GB, but I want a serial ATA HD for speed (So I want a 200BG one as its gonna be my Primary drive) and Ill keep my 120GB as my slave drive (as its gonna be more useful than my 40GB HD).

I probably wont use it all but its better to be safe than sorry.

I want to have a small 20 or 30 GB for my XP instalation and ONLY my XP instalation. and then a 200GB HD for everything else.
The reason why I want to have a seperate HD for xp and not just a partition is because if you have a single hard drive dedicated to one thing(like an OS) it runs a lot faster and dosn't becaome fragmented as much:)
200 gigs just for fun:D
Atrax you should use RAID:p

Atrax you should use RAID:p Dude, what is RAID?

I saw something about it when I was looking at new motherboards........ but I dont know what it is????

Captain Bryan
04-26-2004, 01:43 PM
RAID is designed to allow some fault tolerance to prevent loss of data in the event of a disk drive failure on a network server. A disk drive is a mechanical device, which might eventually fail. RAID accomplishes this fault tolerance or redundancy by storing the information on more than one disk drive

Well, I've recently become addicted to Dragonball Z: Budokai. I mean it's like I keep saying, "Damn! I really need to get that Big Bang ability for Vegeta." everytime I play it. Stupid Mr. Popo always offers it as his preferred capsule when I run out of prize money.

hahaha:D
It's sort of expensive, there's a software solution though, so it could be "free":)
Raid basically mirrors your drive to another drive, so in case anything bad happens to the main one you still get the back up one:)

My inner gamer has slowly died since FF7, and now, its all but gone. I still play, mind you. But its not as fun as it used to be. I remember tossing in FF, or Dragon Warrior, or even Bionic Commando and SMB3, it was awesome. With the birth of SNES, [my personal fave system] it only got better, with the advent of FF3, CT, and BOF2 to name a few. But once we went 3D. it was all downhill for rpgs. Dont get me wrong, they havent been that bad, [mostly] they lost a certain quality. I think its cause they focused on graphics as opposed to gameplay or Char developmet. And now, its so "Hollywood" that its now "cool to be a gamer". Ive just slowly died inside

I gotta agree with Drak about the "Hollywood" think a bit. Though the industry are probably trying to be different instead of just recycling the same brand of RPG styles. But from what little of FF8 I played (which was hoped, if I recall well, to have been Square's hit after FF7's huge success), it was all graphics and hardly any game. Didn't they spend a huge load of money for producing FF8? Though I hadn't finished FF8, I'd still say FF6 was twice the game FF8 wanted to be.

FF8 didnt suck, so long as you werent expecting anything drastic. And the Junctioning system was the closest thing to Espers that Ive seen yet. And yeah, it was supposed to be big."9-9-99." This was supposed to be the day FF was made anew for all gamers. Compared to what they wanted, it flopped like a 700 pound stripper.

poor sega. Dreamcast was a superior machine, and even now, would be a strong runner, tho it would be in last place technologically. The Curse of the DreamCast is was a Catch 22 from hell.

Gamers didnt want it, cause there were no major market titles for it, like FF.

Companies didnt wanna make games for it, cause it wasnt movin units.

If Sega had been willing to toss out some extra money [even if they didnt have a lot extra to spend] on a franchise that would DEFINATELY make some money, or even be so bold as to clone a very sucessful game anyway, Im sure that they would have held out longer.
