Those ticket prices always scared me, but having seen Superman Returns in a digital theater, I think the beautiful imagry of this film would be well worth it. Plus, I'm taking my mother, who hasn't seen it yet and hasn't been to IMAX either, so this might be a cool experience for her.

I'm a bit lost. You said you saw Superman Returns in a digital theater and you're saying you're going to your first IMAX. Isn't IMAX a digital theater?

I meant I originally saw Superman in a theater with a digital projector. IMAX uses digital projectors, but their screen is 5 stories high and there are certain scenes done in 3D. They are also much pricier.

Ooooh. Yea that's true.
I saw Superman Returns in IMAX 3D, myself. It's not that great, in my opinion. It would have been awesome if the rollercoaster-of-an-opening were in 3D but alas it wasn't. :( Superman Returns was my first IMAX experience.
All the trailers for that showing were CGI movies done in 3D and I must say that cartoons in 3D seem to look nicer, though I haven't had much experience. I anxiously away the upcoming "Nightmare Before Christmas" that's been tweaked to be shown in 3D.

A shame I didn't save the poster for it. It's been removed from AintItCool. Anyway, they're just taking the same "Nightmare Before Christmas" movie and just giving it "3D" effects so you can watch it with the 3D glasses from start to end. I don't know when it's coming out.
