50th Anniversary Film: A Kaiju Battle Royal

Well, as you all know, I love Godzilla flicks. I have just heard rumors that Toho will announce that 15 Kaiju will be in the 50th Anniversary film also rumored to be a remake of Destroy All Monsters. There is much speculation as to what well known Toho Kaiju will be in this movie. Obviously Kaiju like Godzilla (Duh!), Mothra, King Ghidorah and Rodan are a lock. But alot are speculating that Goji's four legged sidekick Anguilas will be updated for the new millenium. Also it is rumored that more recent Kaiju like Biollante and Destroyah will be in it in some capacity. But the real wildcard is whether or not Bagan, a kaiju who was slated to be in a Godzilla film to the point where a costume had been created, will be in this movie as well. Fifteen monsters is an awful lot of slots to fill.

Well, at this stage Toho's still not giving up who the official lineup of Kaiju will be. Of course Mothra is a lock as always. But there's speculation as to who MOnster X might be. I'm hoping that it will be Bagan.

I used to love the old Godzilla movies.

I can remember that Godzooki (sp?) was an actaul man in one of the movies.
I loved, the Return of Mechagodzilla ( I still have it on Beta somewhere) I think thats what it was called anyway.

And the one with King Seza (Was that his name?) They summoned him from rocks at one point in one of the movies.
He was quite colourful......... if I remember correctly:cool:

I know all of you guys are anticipating news concerning the Kaiju roster for Godzilla: Final Wars. Mind you this is from the official website (And may be old news.) so it's safe to say these creatures are a lock. I'll give you my thoughts as well on the choices. Oh and sorry I can't link you to any pictures since Toho decided to go with a flash website. I'll give you a link to the official website so you can peruse the pictures yourselves.

Gigan - Okay. I admit. Gigan is a fan favorite of the 70's Kaiju opponents and I like that they've given him a redesigning of sorts. All around a good choice.

Rodan - Yet another Kaiju I'm not surprised made the list. Also a great choice as well.

Mothra - She's a no brainer. Shes also one of Toho's big money making Kaiju.

Kamacuras (AKA A really big Praying Mantis) - Meh. I'm only thinking this Kaiju is here for a quick kill moment.

Manda - This is a throwback to the original Destroy All Monsters. Although Manda was more effective in the movie Atragon. Manda is an aquatic sea serpent so I foresee a few sea battles between him and Godzilla in Final Wars.

Ebirah - Possibly one of Godzilla's easiest opponents. Here's hoping the Millenium updated Ebirah is a tad more effective, possibly in a team up with Manda maybe?

King Caesar (Although in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla it was spelled Seesar.) - I'm iffy on this one. I just hope the costume doesn't look like a big, huge Pekinese puppy like the original.

Hedorah - Alright. I like this choice. I think Hedorah as a monster concept is A-1. But the movie Godzilla vs. Hedorah was am extremely trippy, cheesy flick. I just hope the creepy essence of a creature made of toxic filth will come forth better in a millenium movie, especially since Final Wars has a pretty high budget.

Minilla (Minya) - Oh dear God no! It's the butt ugly Bizarro World Barney. I hope something squashes him in the film.

Kumonga - This big, giant spider is another character who was featured in Destroy All Monsters. He might be yet another quick kill as well since bugs don't fare well againmst fire breathing lizards.

Anguiras (Anguilas) - It looks like the Big G's little buddy from the Showa era is now an opponent of Godzilla ala Godzilla Raids Again. (Gigantis the Fire Monster here in the US.) This certain Kaiju has been on fans minds ever since the start of the Heiseio era and he's finally in a modern Big G movie so give a hand to Anguiras for finally doing it.

Monster X - Well, plain and simple this new Kaiju's design kicks major ass. That is all.

If you ask me, Monster X is eerily similar to the muscle tissue and bone concept for a character called Bagan. Could this finally be Bagan's big entry into the Godzilla franchise? I know they aren't 100% similar but they do feature the striking characteristics of exposed muscle tissue with bony protrusions on the outside. You'll also notice that they have protrusions on their shoulders which according to the description of Bagan from the discarded projects is supposed to be where he sprouts wings.

It's set for a December release in Japan. I had read that Toho hopes to release this movie in the United States in possibly 2005, henceforth the larger budget to beef up FX to a more believable level.

I love Godzilla to. I use to buy his movies alot when i was younger. I had like...6. But i lost them somehow over there years, must've been the constant moving:o. But anyways, This is something i would love to see. Its sad, but i'm Yet to see Godzilla 2000:( :o . I would like to see this, hopefully it'll come to the US.....

First of all, two more monsters have been added to the line up, Kaiser Ghidorah (somewhat of a cross between King Ghidorah and Desghidorah from the Mothra trilogy) and Zilla, who is actually the American Godzilla from the Emmerich movie of 1998.

Yes, it is official. The Japanese Godzilla will fight the American Godzilla in Final Wars!

Next, Godzilla: Final Wars will have it's world premier in LA. Could this mean a possible release in the US? I sure as hell hope so.

One thing's for sure, this could very well be one of the great ones.

Because a good number of sites these days have it so that linking images from their site isn't allowed (so it saves their bandwidth)

For me: the images don't work in the posts but when I go to view them, individually, they work fine.

Cache is when your computer automatically saves pictures for a little while so it can display them faster and you don't have to download them every time you load a page.
